چکیده

Discrete Event Systems (DES) are a special type of dynamic system. The \state" of these systems change at discrete instants in time and the term "event" represents the occurrence of discontinuous change (at possibly unknown intervals). Diierent Discrete Event Systems models are currently used for speciication, veriication, synthesis as well as for analysis and evaluation of diierent qualitative and quantitative properties of existing physical systems. The focus of this paper is the presentation of the automata and formal language model for DES introduced by Ramadge and Wonham and its application to the domain of mobile manipulator/observer agents. We demonstrate the feasibility of the DES framework for modeling, analysis and synthesis of some visually guided behaviors of agents engaged in navigational tasks and address synchronization issues between diierent components of the system. The use of DES formalism allows us to synthesize complex behaviors in a systematic fashion and guarantee their controllability.

Decentralized prognosis of fuzzy discrete-event systems

This paper gives a decentralized approach to the problem of failure prognosis in the framework of fuzzy discrete event systems (FDES). A notion of co-predictability is formalized for decentralized prognosis of FDESs, where several local agents with fuzzy observability rather than crisp observability are used in the prognosis task. An FDES is said to be co-predictable if each faulty event can be...

Methodology for Discrete Event Modeling/Simulation of Mobile Agent Systems

A mobile agent is an autonomous software agent capable of moving from one computer to another while performing its tasks. We view the agent as a discrete event system in the view of its computation and communication. This paper presents a methodology for modeling and simulation of such a mobile agent system as a discrete event system. The methodology is based on the Mobile Discrete Event System...

Using Interval Petri Nets and Timed Automata for Diagnosis of Discrete Event Systems (DES)

A discrete event system (DES) is a dynamic system that evolves in accordance with the abrupt occurrence, at possibly unknown irregular intervals, of physical events. Because of the special nature of these systems, different tools are currently used for their analysis, design and modeling. The main focus of this paper is the presentation of a new modeling approach of Discrete Event Systems. The ...
